Can we restore the coast?

It will take careful planning, hard work, and forward thinking in the face of difficult trade-offs from us all, and we will not be able to return it to what it was 50 or 100 years ago. The damage has been too severe, and the costs are too high to make the coast as it once was. However, with careful planning together, hard work, and support from the rest of the country coastal Louisiana will be able to protect a newly created functioning coast.

Yes, it is possible to create a new coast will continue to support Louisiana's vibrant culture and productive economy. Louisiana's functioning coast to support communities and keep people safe from catastrophic hurricane and flood disasters. Louisiana will have to face some very difficult decisions. Everything cannot be saved. Trade-offs will have to be made. At times, it will require difficult sacrifices. It will take all this and more to adapt our communities to Louisiana's changing coastal landscape, but it is possible to create a new coast on a level that will maintain the fiber of our communities, our culture and our economy.
